![]() The time is already upon us to begin thinking about Field Day. As you may already know we hold a separate field day for each grade level. Second grade field day will be on Wed., May 22nd Third grade on Tues., May 28th Fourth grade on Thurs., May 30th Fifth grade on Mon., June 3rd All field days will run from approximately 8:30 until noon. In case of rain, the field day will be canceled. We are working hard to plan a morning full of fun, active events for all. There will be a mix of age-appropriate recreational, skill, relay, and competitive events. Our goal is to provide events which will encourage the students to develop a love of physical activity so that they might continue with a healthy and active lifestyle. If you can help, please return the form that went home or contact the school office at 339-8202. Several parents are serving as volunteer coordinators and could use your help in ensuring these events are fun days for everyone. In order for these mornings to be successful we need involved parents. Please consider spending some time helping on any of the field day mornings you are available. While most parents choose to help on the day of their child’s event, some may prefer to help with another grade level’s event.

![]() A Day Made Better and a HUGE Thank you to Office Max Every year, teachers spend an average of $1,000 of their own money on classroom supplies. That's over $4 billion annually. OfficeMax® joined with AdoptAClassroom.org to create A Day Made Better: A one-day event that awards more than 1,000 teachers with over $1,000 in school supplies. October 2, 2012 marked the sixth anniversary. Over the last five years Office Max has been able to surprise over 5,500 teachers with a new chair, loads of classrooms supplies and the recognition they so richly deserve. We would like to say Congratulations to Mrs. Garcia, who was awarded “A Day Made Better!” In addition we would like to thank Office Max who generously donated over $7,000 in school supplies to our teachers! |
Haslett District Volunteers There are many ways in which you can make a difference in the lives of our students. Volunteer opportunities exist in the classrooms working directly with teachers and students, chaperoning field trips, assisting at recess or at lunch time, or helping out at a PTO function, booster activities, or extracurricular event. Volunteering can be very rewarding – which is why many of our volunteers return year after year. If you plan to volunteer this year, please return the volunteer form.
