HMS HOMEWORK HELP LAP: IN DISTRICT HOURS
We are happy to try to have volunteers after school during our homework lab on a regular basis. Volunteers would do a tutor/mentoring thing for a few middle school students that need some direction and organization. Please have interested people email me at woodhamk@haslett.k12.mi.us or call me here at the middle school 339-8233.
MURPHY/ RALYA MENTORS: IN DISTRICT HOURS

A mentor is a student who is committed to being involved in the growth and development of a younger student by giving their time, guidance and assistance in many areas.  If you are interested please contact Murphy Elementary @ 339.8253 or  Ralya Elementary @ 339.8202.   The most important part of being a mentor is to make a commitment of time each week. You will pick a day of the week and go to Murphy or Ralya  from 2:30 p.m.- 3:05 p.m. When you arrive at your mentee's classroom you first ask the teacher if there is something special that your student needs to do.  If the teacher does not have anything special then you can pick from a variety of activities: board games, reading a book together, talking, going out to the playground (weather permitting) and making things.

MURPHY MATH LAB; IN DISTRICT HOURS
This is a new program for 5th grade math study hall here at Murphy. 5th Grade Math Study Hall will begin on Thursdays from October 20th, and go for six weeks, until December 1st, excluding the Thursday of Thanksgiving. We may do other sessions after the winter break, depending on availability and student participation. NHS volunteers need to arrive at Murphy at 2:45pm, check into the office, and come report to Ms. Mahon's classroom. There you can help set up and students will come to Math Study Hall (MSH) at 3:01pm when the bell rings. Plan to stay until 4:15pm for clean-up, shut down of computers, walk students out, etc. This will give you 1 1/2 hours per session for your NHS hours.
For more info contact Ms. Mahon @ Mahonzk@haslett.k12.mi.us
NHS TUTORING; IN DISTRICT HOURS
Every NHS student will be added to the NHS tutoring list this year in order to provide each student with an opportunity to tutor another Haslett student and to help fill all of the tutoring requests. Please ask Ms. Barile to approve your tutoring sessions ahead of time, if you have any questions.

RECYCLE RAMA: OUT OF DISTRICT OPPORTUNITY
Recycle Rama is an local recycling event on Saturday, April 13, 2013. This is a great community event that brings hundreds of people out, recycling numerous amounts of materials. Recycle Rama needs a lot of volunteers and I believe this would be a great opportunity for NHS students. We need volunteers to help with assorted tasks such as greeting and working with the public, traffic control, removing items from vehicles, and lifting objects (depending on abilities). You may work the entire time or there are two shifts available throughout the day. A Recycle Rama t-shirt will be provided to volunteers as well as food and drinks. If any students would be available to help us out, we would greatly appreciate it. Recycle Rama is a great opportunity to get involved with the community and it is a lot of fun!
We are using a simple online volunteer registration site called volunteer spot to organize volunteers. Anybody interested in volunteering needs to use their Name, email address and a valid phone number to register. The registration link is: http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/2845553380101
More information can be found at our website here. If you have any questions, please email the office at midmeac@gmail.com or give us a call at 517-292-3078.
