A mentor is a student who is committed to being involved in the growth and development of a younger student by giving their time, guidance and assistance in many areas. If you are interested please contact Murphy Elementary @ 339.8253 or Ralya Elementary @ 339.8202. The most important part of being a mentor is to make a commitment of time each week. You will pick a day of the week and go to Murphy or Ralya from 2:30 p.m.- 3:05 p.m. When you arrive at your mentee's classroom you first ask the teacher if there is something special that your student needs to do. If the teacher does not have anything special then you can pick from a variety of activities: board games, reading a book together, talking, going out to the playground (weather permitting) and making things.
If anyone is interested in volunteering for the Race for Ralya? More information during next school year 2013-2014.
Market Day is the primary fundraiser for Ralya. Volunteers report to the front office of Ralya Elementary between 3:00 and 3:15 pm. We unload boxes of food, sort, inventory and fill orders. Our pick-up times are from 5 - 6 pm. Students can stay as long as they are able. If National Honor Society Students are looking for somewhere to get started on their NHS hours, Market Day is the place to start!!! We need volunteers monthly from 3:30 - 6 pm; however, we will take whatever hours they can help out, i.e., (they can't make it until 4 pm but can stay until 6 or they can only stay for an hour)! Our dates for the 2012-13 school year are: SEPTEMBER 18TH, OCTOBER 16TH, NOVEMBER 13TH, DECEMBER 11TH, JANUARY 15TH, FEBRUARY 19TH, MARCH 12TH, APRIL 16TH, MAY 14TH, and JUNE 4TH. We really, really appreciate all the help that the students can give! If students would like to volunteer, please have them email me at: kruegecm@haslett.k12.mi.us or cammie.krueger@yahoo.com or call or text at (517) 449-2789. Thanks! Cammie Krueger
